A Message From Chad Parker

Oregon is absolutely wonderful.

Yet too many of our friends and neighbors are packing up and leaving. Families we’ve known for years are heading to Arizona, to Texas, to anywhere they believe opportunity knocks a little louder. Oregon grown businesses, companies built with sweat and dreams right here are relocating, taking jobs and futures with them. 

Why? Because deep down, we all know the truth: Oregon’s beauty is undeniable, but the policies coming out of Salem are disconnected from the realities we live every day. High taxes, burdensome regulations, and a government that seems to forget the people it serves are driving many people and businesses away. This is our moment to step up, to get involved and build the Oregon we want.

The latest National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP, the Nation's Report Card) shows us the reality: In 2024, Oregon's 4th-grade reading proficiency ranks near the bottom nationally, with our students facing real challenges in building strong foundational skills. This isn't the Oregon we know or want for our future.

But right now, challenges like the Corporate Activity Tax (CAT) on growing small businesses, overlapping regulations that hinder growth, and threats to repeal tax cuts for overtime wages and tips are holding us back from our full economic powerhouse status.

    The 37th is full of energy, wonderful families, and opportunity— we deserve roads and transportation systems that match that spirit! Right here in the 37th District, we navigate an impressive (and sometimes overwhelming) mix of transportation agencies overseeing our streets, highways, and intersections. A quick drive from spots like Lark Coffee to Bridgeport Village can cross five or even six different jurisdictions in just seven miles. And thanks to the ongoing conversations around road funding in Salem—including with those (thankfully) stalled toll loving people—we know firsthand how critical smart, accountable transportation leadership is to keeping our communities moving safely and smoothly.
